How do I get started?
Request a free 15-minute phone consultation, call 317-678-7302, or use the appointment request page. You do not need to know which service you want before contacting me.
What happens during the free consultation?
We have a brief phone conversation about what brings you here, your questions, services, fees, and whether working together seems like a good fit. There is no commitment to treatment.
What happens after I send a request?
I aim to respond within one business day, Monday–Friday. We discuss your needs and availability, then agree on a time. Sending a form or suggesting a preferred time does not reserve an appointment; an appointment is confirmed only after we connect and agree on a time.
Keep your inquiry brief and avoid sending diagnoses, medical history, or other sensitive information through the website form.
What should I expect at the first appointment?
We discuss your concerns, relevant history, goals, and preferences. I explain the service, confidentiality and its limits, fees, and how we will work together. You can ask questions and share at your own pace. We agree on a focus and next steps.
How do I choose between counseling and another service?
Counseling focuses on mental health concerns and coping with life challenges. Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, imagery, and reflection to explore patterns. Reiki, breathwork, and spiritual coaching have their own purposes and boundaries. We can discuss your goals, suitability, and preferences before you choose. Spiritual and energy practices are optional; they are not required for counseling.

Where is your office, and what are your hours?
My office is at 1311 W. 96th Street, Suite 245, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. There is an elevator to the second floor and a waiting area outside the office. Contact me to discuss appointment availability.
How do online counseling sessions work?
I use SimplePractice for scheduled video appointments. You need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. I explain how to join before your first session. Contact me if you want to discuss phone sessions or whether online care fits your needs.
You must be physically located in Indiana for counseling with me unless we have confirmed that another location is permitted. Tell me before traveling or relocating so we can discuss your options.
How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?
Counseling sessions last 52 minutes or more. All hypnotherapy sessions last 120 minutes (two hours), including couples hypnotherapy. Reiki sessions are 75 minutes, breathwork sessions are 90 minutes, and Sports program meetings are one hour. We discuss the coaching format before beginning.
We agree on how often to meet based on your goals, needs, availability, and the service or program you choose, then review the schedule as we work together.
Who will I work with?
You’ll work directly with me, Zach Crooks, LMHC. Inner Harmony is my solo practice, and I provide your sessions personally.
What training do you bring to our work?
I hold a master’s degree in counseling and am licensed as a mental health counselor in Indiana. I am a Certified Gestalt Therapist and an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist. I draw on the training relevant to the service and goals we discuss.
Do I have to use hypnosis, spiritual practices, or energy work?
No. I explain approaches and choose them collaboratively with you. You can receive counseling without hypnotherapy or energy practices, decline an exercise, and tell me when something does not fit your beliefs or preferences.
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
Counseling offers a professional relationship focused on your concerns, goals, and ways of responding. I bring training, structured reflection, and feedback while respecting the support you receive from friends and family. Counseling is confidential within applicable legal and ethical limits, which I explain before we begin.
Can counseling and medication be used together?
Some people use counseling, medication, or both. We can discuss your goals and coordinate with your prescribing provider when appropriate and with your consent. Questions about starting, stopping, or changing medication belong with that provider.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapy approach to your specific needs. Sessions may include conversation, mindfulness, journaling, guided imagery, or another agreed experiential exercise. We discuss your goals and revisit what is helping as we work together.
How long will it take?
The length of counseling varies with your concerns, goals, circumstances, and response to the work. We review progress together and adjust the plan; I do not promise a fixed timeline or outcome.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
Share your goals and feedback, ask questions, and try agreed practices between sessions when you can. If an approach is not helping, tell me so we can adjust it. Progress is influenced by many factors.
What does it cost, and do you accept insurance?
Self-pay counseling is $130 per hour. I accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Optum, Aetna, and Cigna, plus Anthem, Optum, CuraLinc, and AllOne EAPs. Insurance rates and your copay vary by plan. Only counseling services are billable through insurance.
Hypnotherapy is $160 per session; Reiki is $110 per 75-minute session; breathwork is $110 per 90-minute session; the Sports program is $150 per session. Coaching pricing is arranged through a payment plan.
When and how do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA payments, cash, checks, Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal. Confirm HSA eligibility for your chosen service with your account administrator.
What if I need to cancel?
Please cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment. Cancellations made 24 hours or less before your appointment are charged the full cost of the session.
